Every New Boat Owner Should Consider These Boat Lights!

Congratulations on your new boat! As a new boat owner, one of the most important things you need to think about is boat lights. Good lighting is essential for safety, navigation, and enjoyment on the water.

In this blog post, we’ll go over the kinds of lights that new boat owners need.

Anchor Lights

If you plan on anchoring your boat overnight, you’ll need an anchor light. Anchor lights are used to signal to other boaters that you’re anchored in place and to prevent collisions. They are required by law on boats that are anchored at night, and they also must be visible from at least 2 miles away.

Cabin Lights

Cabin lights are essential for providing light inside your boat’s cabin. They allow you to see what you’re doing, read, and move around safely inside your boat at night. They come in a variety of styles, including overhead lights, wall-mounted lights, and reading lights. You can choose from LED or incandescent bulbs, depending on your preferences.

Deck Boat Lights

Deck lights are useful for illuminating the deck at night. They make it easier to navigate around the boat and perform tasks like tying knots, adjusting lines, or cleaning up after a meal.

Deck lights can also be used for fishing or as a spotlight when anchoring in a dark area. They come in a variety of styles, including floodlights, spotlights, and strip lights.

Underwater Lights

If you want to add a cool touch to your boat, consider installing underwater lights. Mount underwater lights on the bottom of your boat and shine down into the water. They create a beautiful effect at night and can attract fish and other marine life.

These lights come in a variety of colors and styles, including LED and halogen lights.

Boat Trailer Lights

Custer Products stocks lights for boat trailers of all sizes.  We have submersible lights for regular sized and over 80” sized trailers. The LED lights come with a white light on the left side to illuminate your license plate, which is a requirement.  The over 80” trailer lights come with rear and side markers that protrude out to meet the standard requirements.

Our incandescent lights are not submersible but can be used on a utility trailer, or any trailer not being submersed in water.  We also have non-submersible trailer lights in LED available.   Having good working, bright boat trailer lights are not only required by law, but will keep you visible and safe while traveling to and from your favorite body of water.
